pen nibs & typewriters...

... Went into the Jewellery Quarter today ... this is a small, almost little-town-in-itself part of the big city of Birmingham. It's a really interesting and truly inspiring part of the city with a thoroughly authentic and historic feel. It has everything I love: art galleries, studios, architects & design offices (I always think they're groovy), wonderful old buildings, original signage and a super duper choice of bars, restaurants & cafes...

...however, none of that for us today, oh no!! We visited the little known & tucked away Pen Museum ...

Here's a little bit of info: at the height of it's trade, there were over 100 factories in what was then the heavily industrial city, supplying the world in this particular case with pen nibs. They made 1 nib every 2 seconds and supplied all U.S Schools and even Walt Disney's illustrators & animators...

...they also have an incredible collection of old typewriters (another favourite thing) AND, boxes and boxes of pen nibs. They look very pretty when all stacked up and some of them have lovely packaging and graphics ... Here are some photos so you can see too ... Enjoy! x
